Melbourne travelled to Chesterfield RFC to play against North Derbyshire in the penultimate league fixture of the season. Euen Holden was forced to make a few changes to the recent side with Stringer, Lucas, Devaney and Macer all unavailable.

Conditions were atrocious for the game and the pitch soon churned up to make playing conditions very difficult for both sides. Melbourne dominated the line outs and took many of north Derby's ball setting up a good platform for Fulton to distribute the ball well from scrum half.

Melbourne's try scorers were Robert Thompson and Nathan Goodyear with Euen Holden adding both conversions.

North Derbyshire 's winger scored a break away try to close the gap.

Melbourne play Notts Casuals this Wednesday (2nd April) in the Semi Final of the NLD plate under floodlights at Long Eaton RFC. The winners will play Rolls Royce in the Final this coming Sunday (6th April) at 12:00. The finals this year are to be held at Derby RFC.

Please come and support the club on Wednesday night at Long Eaton, Kick off around 7pm - 7:30pm.

Please add a comment if anyone has anything else to add to the match report??

avatar Just heard that Rolls Royce have pulled out of Sundays Final due to unavailability of players and Barton and District have taken their place in the final (having already been withdrawn by NLD for some reason!!)
Would it not have been easier to have just moved tonights game to Sunday and made it the Final????
