3rd XV Results

Melbourne arrived 2 players down with no front row. Captained by James Perry, with uncontested scrums, Melbourne played with 13 players against 15 of Ashby. 

Melbourne fielded a strong 3rd team against an unknown Mosbourgh veteran’s side, managing to get 18 players to the game. 

Notts. Casuals arrived with a young colts side made up mainly of backs. Melbourne had to loan two forward players to allow the game to be played as contested scrums. 

The third team welcomed the return of Roger Lucas and John Sibley with Ray Sparkes and Tim Young starting their first games of the new season. James Ayre, son of Mini and junior stalwart Trevor, made his senior debut. 

The game was played with a strong wind assisting the team attacking the changing rooms. Melbourne won the toss and started with wind assistance. 

At last the Thirds had a game, thanks to the persuasive powers of Angie Fulton! 

We started with 9 men so yet again we had to borrow players from the opposition (and their kit!), they lent us 4 players! To make matters worse there was a lady ref - but to be honest she was good! 

After 4 weeks without a game we took 12 players over to Rolls Royce to play, with Royces giving us 3 players to make up the numbers.
