Melbourne had to make 5 changes to the side that beat Barton last week and even more positional changes to face a very well organised east Leake side that were wanting revenge from the defeat earlier in the season. Paul Macer and Steve Bell came into the back row, Bob Stowell into the front row and Euen Holden and Nathan Goodyear into the back line.

Because the fixture had been postponed two
weeks previously, due to a waterlogged pitch, Melbourne 1sts were forced to field a side
against Rolls Royce. The consequences of not doing so would have been a
two-point deduction. Unfortunately, most of the club were at Deano’s stag do at
Doncaster Races, so a barrel-scraping exercise was put in place.

After last weeks cancelled fixture Melbourne travelled to Nottingham to face Casuals who we knew would be fired up after a heavy loss to Barton last week. Euen Holden was leading the side for the first time this season and there was also a couple of late changes that saw Nigel Breakwell coming into the second row and Peter Welsh and Matt Smith dropping into the back row.
