Tom Dring
joined Melbourne at the start of the 2007/08 season and as part of our ongoing
development as a team we like to get an input from players and this is what Tom
wrote about his views......
Why
you joined Melbourne RFC
I joined Melbourne RFC because I enjoy playing
rugby and wanted to start playing for a club again. I joined because I have
three friends from school who already play for Melbourne and they told me about the club. I
liked the idea that it was a small club, I had previously played for a larger
club and I didn't really enjoy it as the focus was mainly on the top team.
Your
impressions of the club as a new player
I think that the club is great, because the
coaches listen to you and don't just concentrate on a few players. As a new
player I was welcomed, and I soon got to know everyone in the team.
What
you like about the club / people / players / coaches etc
I like the way that there are three coaches
for around 20 players, which means that coaches and players get to know each
other well. I like the way that everyone welcomes you in, and is encouraging. I
also feel that all the players are treated the same.
What
you're getting out of the club
It is great fun. I am enjoying focusing on
a different position to one that I play at school. I am getting a lot of input
from the coaches and learning all about the skills that I need to improve my
play.
